Mathis Coopman is a composer, sound designer, musical curator and artistic director from France.

After completing a Master’s in Composition Applied to Visual Arts (MAAAV), he graduated in 2026 from the International Master in Composition for Screen from both the Royal Conservatory of Ghent and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon.(CNSMDL)

His musical approach is centered around the idea of blurring boundaries whether between acoustic and electronic, music and sound design.

His work often seeks to avoid clear genre definitions and explores how these elements shape the listener’s perception. Interdisciplinary creation is central to his practice. He works in cinema but also with dancers, performers, designers, and visual artists, with a focus on performance art, dance, fashion, and installation-based projects.

Furthermore, his work as a composer has now extended to artistic direction for the collective SHOUTS(for)ART, an initiative dedicated to connecting artists from different fields and supporting the creation of new work by young and emerging artists.
